Visitor Attracations:
Whitby is well known for the legend of Dracula, home of Captain Cook, photographer Frank Sutcliffe, Whitby Abbey, Saint Mary's Church, dinosaur coast, Whitby jet and the famous whale bones.

Whitby Town:
Cross the old swing bridge (1909) that spans the mouth of the river Esk which runs into one of the finest coastal fishing ports in England.   Explore the towns historic cobbled streets, quaint shops, pubs/bars and restaurants.  Walk the 199 steps which take you up to the spectacular ruins of Whitby Abbey and Saint Mary's Church.

Surrounding Countryside:
Whitby is a short drive to the North York Moors National Park where the popular television series of Heartbeat is filmed at Goathland or ride on the North Yorkshire Steam Railway linking Grosmont and Pickering.
Popular walks include the Cleveland way that runs through Whitby to the neighbouring Runswick or Robin Hoods Bay.
